November 30, 2013. South Jordan, Utah. A million thanks to Dave's parents who made this week a wonderfully memorable one for us. You really thought of everything and I can't thank you enough. Without you, this week would have been a very stressful one.
November 29, 2013. South Jordan, Utah. Noni and Grandpa have given Hazel The Elf on the Shelf and so far she is loving it. The Elf on the Shelf is a special scout elf sent from the North Pole to
help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists. We have adopted an elf who, with Christmas magic, flies to the North Pole each night to report to Santa Claus whether Hazel has been naughty or nice. Each morning, the elf returns from the North Pole and
perches in a different place around the house. Hazel loves to wake up
and find her elf in a different spot each morning.

November 26, 2013. San Jose, California. I should be putting together a design proposal, drafting a floor plan, doing dishes, folding laundry, or packing for my trip. Nope...I'm reading The Winter Sea.
November 25, 2013. Oakland, California. My two favorite people are leaving on a jet plane. They're escaping for the holiday a few days before I'm able to go with them. I'm glad they'll have some good daddy-daugher time. To Dave's heartbreak, Hazel's been going through a phase of only wanting mommy to do things for her, not daddy :( Is this typical two-year-old behavior?

November 22, 2013. San Ramon, California. I believe in miracles. There is no doubt in my mind that the hand of God brought little Hazel into our lives and I believe the hand of God will bring another little miracle to love.
November 21, 2013. Redwood City, California. I've been hired by Breakthrough (a start-up company pioneering live online video therapy) to design the layout and furniture composition for their new 3400 sf office space. It's going to be a great little project over the next couple months and will give them the flexibility to nearly double their workforce at a pace they're comfortable with.
November 20, 2013. San Jose, California. While I'm at the gym Hazel often gets lessons in painting. Neat! Wait...I mean, not so neat.
November 19, 2013. Cupertino, California. Daddy's lesson in chasing birds has really paid off. Do you see the difference in these two photographs? First she is running out to get the birds (how she saw them from where I am standing is beyond me). Then she is running back after a job well done. I sure love her.
November 18, 2013. San Jose, California. This is the best Turkey Brine recipe I have come across and it's become a Thanksgiving tradition for our little family. I'm pulling the recipe out today and checking my stock on spices, etc. because I know this week is just going to fly by.
November 16, 2013. Sunnyvale, California. One of Hazel's friends invited us to a birthday picnic in the park. It was one of the best birthday partys I have ever been to, complete with lunch, cake, gift bags, baloons, and a pinata.
November 14, 2013. San Jose, California. My house is falling apart...I cannot put this book down. I will most definitely be reading more Kearsley novels. It's easy to read and I can't get enough of historical fiction.
November 13, 2013. San Jose, California. It hit 70 degrees today--perfect for some outdoor fun.
November 12, 2013. San Jose, California. I get myself in the middle of these projects and I wonder why I couldn't just buy her some bedding? I've got the ruffles around the edges figured out and they're pinned on. Now I'm trying to figure out sizing and spacing for the flowers on top. I'm also thinking I need to work some pink into that bedding somehow.
November 11, 2013. Mountain View, California. Do you recognize this girl? It's hard to believe how big she's getting. Since taking her binky away (finally) her speech has exploded.
November 9, 2013. San Jose, California. Well, I've learned how NOT to attach a ruffle around the perimeter of a blanket. Now I'm ripping 240" of seams...joy.
November 8, 2013. San Jose, California. Hazel has a fever and follows me around like a little puppy, just wanting to be held. We're reading lots of books (the fave of the week is "How To Catch an Elephant") and watching movies.
November 7, 2013. San Jose, California. I want to build Hazel's Storybook Collection for Christmas so I'm on the lookout for great children's books. What books do you recommend?
November 6, 2013. San Jose, California. Hazel was so darn cute today. I just wanted to hug her forever. Good thing too...it was the second day in a row with no nap and lots of crying. Her little cheeks turn bright red indicating fatigue but she still refuses to sleep.
November 5, 2013. San Jose, California. She's getting good at having a camera pointed at her day in and day out. Often I get fake smiles...but every once in a while I get the golden real smile.
November 4, 2013. Cupertino, California. We had such a great walk through Rancho San Antonio last Monday that we gave it a go again today. I guess I pushed Hazel a little too far this time; she had a royal tantrum that made the second half of the trip almost unbearable.
November 2, 2013. Fremont, California. We had family photos taken today at Shinn Park in Fremont. I was entirely too nervous for the whole ordeal (I'm much more comfortable behind the camera.) We'll get results in about two weeks.
November 1, 2013. San Jose, California. I am super pleased that the installation of our little bird feeder ornaments and the humming bird feeder have done their job to attract little bird's into our backyard for mine and Hazel's enjoyment.
